This year, meteorologists are predicting the coldest Christmas in decades \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com\/article\/weather\/animals-feel-wind-chill\/73-ca78c6a2-f7e8-4dc3-b5de-e3211f66dd7d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">a chill deep enough to threaten pets, livestock, and wildlife<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For livestock, this means making sure their housing is dry and insulated, that they have plenty of food and water \u2013 &nbsp;and that their water isn\u2019t frozen. With animals that require heat lamps or heaters, care must be taken to make sure to avoid fire hazards, too \u2013 make sure the cure isn\u2019t worse than the disease!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to our pets, care is simultaneously simpler and more complicated \u2013 use our eyes, knowledge of our companions, and a healthy dose of common sense. Don\u2019t deny a young and healthy Alaskan Malamute a chance to rollick in the snow for a bit. That\u2019s literally what they are made for!
