These changes come in the wake of poorly trained and disruptive animals, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/travel\/flights\/todayinthesky\/2018\/02\/22\/emotional-support-dog-bites-child-southwest-flight-debate-animals-airlines\/362759002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bites<\/a>, and even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/storyline\/airplane-mode\/flight-attendant-didn-t-realize-dog-was-overhead-bin-fatal-n856761\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tragic pet deaths<\/a> occurring on flights.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 11.5px;\"><em>\u201cMost animals cause no problems,\u201d said Ray Prentice, Alaska Airlines director of customer advocacy. \u201cHowever, over the last few years, we have observed a steady increase in incidents from animals who haven\u2019t been adequately trained to behave in a busy airport setting or on a plane, which has prompted us to strengthen our policy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Prentice is unfortunately correct about the issue being a growing problem.
