{"id":1537,"date":"2016-12-20T22:32:43","date_gmt":"2016-12-20T22:32:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/naiaonline.org\/blog\/?p=1537"},"modified":"2016-12-20T22:32:43","modified_gmt":"2016-12-20T22:32:43","slug":"judge-refuses-to-view-pet-dispute-as-child-custody-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/naiaonline.org\/blog\/animal-law\/judge-refuses-to-view-pet-dispute-as-child-custody-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Judge Refuses to View Pet Dispute as Child Custody Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While acknowledging that dogs are treated as members of the family, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/saskatchewan\/dog-custody-dispute-saskatoon-1.3889188\" target=\"_blank\">a\u00a0Saskatoon (Canada) Judge has emphatically refused to view a divorcing couple&#8217;s dispute about pet ownership as a child custody case<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 11.5px;\"><em>The judge said this sort of case should not be chewing up precious court time &#8220;in a justice system that is incredibly busy, where delay has virtually become systemic.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 11.5px;\"><em>&#8220;To consume scarce judicial resources with this matter is wasteful.
