{"id":1125,"date":"2015-04-20T19:14:15","date_gmt":"2015-04-20T19:14:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/naiaonline.org\/blog\/?p=1125"},"modified":"2015-04-20T19:56:00","modified_gmt":"2015-04-20T19:56:00","slug":"when-animal-rightists-speak-and-remove-all-doubt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/naiaonline.org\/blog\/animal-rights\/when-animal-rightists-speak-and-remove-all-doubt\/","title":{"rendered":"When animal rightists speak&#8230; and remove all doubt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Animal rights activists co-opted Holocaust Remembrance Day last week, and it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JbhgX6FyiU8\" target=\"_blank\">provided a window into the warped psyche of those who subscribe to the &#8220;rat is a pig is a dog is a boy&#8221; philosophy<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JbhgX6FyiU8?rel=0\" width=\"448\" height=\"252\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Co-opting Holocaust Remembrance Day in the name of animal rights\u00a0is an offensive game of equivalency, and these moral comparisons have always been soundly &#8212; rightfully &#8212; rejected outside of the small circle of animal rights true believers\u00a0(remember the reception to <a title=\"Group blasts PETA 'Holocaust' project\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2003\/US\/Northeast\/02\/28\/peta.holocaust\/\" target=\"_blank\">PETA&#8217;s &#8220;Holocaust On Your Plate&#8221;<\/a> exhibit?).<\/p>\n<p>But while the words and behavior are outrageous, hurtful, and anti-human,\u00a0you have to admit: every time the animal rightists open their mouths and articulate\u00a0what they <em>really<\/em> think, it serves as an important reminder of how twisted this seemingly warm and fuzzy movement truly is.
